WOTR Foundation

Established in 1993, WOTR is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation and think tank that engages at the intersection of practice, knowledge and policy across scales and in collaboration with various stakeholders across sectors. WOTR’s goal is to ensure water and food availability, along with livelihoods and income security to support the sustainable growth and well-being of vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in rural India. Sarbat was brought on board to design two brand collaterals: first, a 30-page booklet documenting the impact of the organization’s work in Chhattisgarh, and second, a brief 2-page handout with actionable steps for the people of Dharashiv, a city in Maharashtra.

For the 30-page booklet, the major design challenge was to create a distinct identity that highlighted the people involved while adhering to the already-established brand guidelines. Sarbat’s design utilizes a combination of custom illustrations, innovative image collages, and color blocks to craft a visual narrative that invites curiosity and attention, making readers not only engage with the content but also feel its impact.

The 2-page handout also innovates within the brand guidelines but creates a distinct visual hierarchy to organize extensive information for easy readability. A distinct band at the bottom, defined in the brand’s blue, hosts the section on the future without competing with the rest of the information. On the last page, the band, like a river, flows into the CTA that says ‘Join Us,’ an invitation to be part of the river of change.
